Karan Rao's 3rd grade lads dominate their GF

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

A massive congrats to the mighty Wrens!  We won 3 Premierships - 2nd, 3rd, 4th grade. These achievements go with our 3 Minor Premierships - 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade,

The Wrens also congratulates all players for flying the Wrens colours with pride and for your amazing achievements.  It's great to be a Wren!  You are welcome to join us - we'd love you to enjoy playing in a Club with spirit and tradition.

A massive thank you to:

*  Rick Palmer's 1st grade lads for making the Grand Final after a slow start to the season.  The Wrens peaked at the right end of the season and would have played an epic grand final.

It's a shame the weather gods interrupted what would have been a cracking match-up with the Wrens at full strength for the first time this season.  We congratulate North Ryde for their season.

* Tone D'Amore's mighty Mo's for representing our Club with pride and distinction. The lads played some good cricket with much spirit and dogged determination.  With some new season signings already confirmed they will back at full strength next year challenging for the title.

* Our magnificent sponsors - Rheem Australia, The Family Inn, Rydalmere and TGL Landscapes.

* All NDCA and NCU players and Clubs for making both competitions an enjoyable place to play cricket. Well done.

2ND GRADE

A ruthless display by Lalandra Wijesekera's 2nd grade champs. They didn't even need to bat or bowl to win their Grand Final! Congrats.

3RD GRADE

What a superb performance by Karan Rao's talented team!

They showed masterful batting skills scoring a phenomenal 357 in the Grand Final. A simply awesome display of aggressive, commanding cricket.

All batsmen fired on the day with a superb 110 opening partnership between Karan Rao (43) and Dilip Ramaswamy (64). Dilip punished every single NDCA bowler to claim nearly 1,000 runs for the season!

The middle order then crushed the attack - Virosh Poolagasandrum (41), Arnesh Srivastava (34) and Najeeb Aftab (52). This middle order batted outstandingly - power, patience and gritty determination.

Soumen Sen (63) then smashed our strong position of 6 for 249 overnight to finish all out 357. Amazing.

The bowlers then stepped up big time. Pick of the bowlers was Dhruv Kaushik (3 for 22) Ash Nair (2-21) who both bowled ruthlessly - strangling the batsmen with deadly precision.

At 6 for 100 the game was conceded and the Wrens tasted sweet victory.  Wrens 3rd grade Premiers!

The female supporters almost got another grand final win when Ash 'Adonis' Nair almost took his shirt off. What a rig!

Congrats to North Ryde RSL for their season and making the Grand Final.

4TH GRADE

Rafi Ebrahimi's 4th grade lads played a thrilling match at North Ryde's home ground.

Batting first the Wrens got off to a difficult start losing 4 for 25. Shayne Cox played attacking cricket to get a valuable 18 in the context of the game.

North Ryde welcomed Wrens powerhouse allrounder Wade Nobbs-Quintal to the crease to play the innings of his life. Scoring a match high 53 not out, Wade played with skill, controlled aggression and maturity. A GF winning innings for the record books.

Daniel Young played a great anchor role and Wrens legend Glen 'Tooks' Vance plundered 18 valuable runs at number 11.

The Wrens scored 125 on a wet, lush, slow outfield.

The Wrens returned on day 2 with North Ryde at 4 for 40 and the game in the balance.  An early wicket from Hamid 'The Hammer' Mangal was a fantastic start.  North Ryde played a strong rear guard action scoring 25 runs in a few overs.

Then something amazing happened. Left arm seamer Abdul Ebrahimi changed the game forever - achieving the superb figures of 7 for 17.

The last 5 wickets fell for 6 runs - Wrens 4th grade premiers. What an excellent team performance to defend a modest total.  Great to see evergreen Jeff Hamilton elated with his GF win and the other lads whose it was their first GF victory.

Congrats to North Ryde RSL for their season and making the Grand Final.

Go the mighty Wrens!
